1200-400-800-1600. Christian Brothers Academy (NJ) (CBA) returned three members of their 2024 winning squad to defend their title. During the first two relay legs, it was a battle between CBA, Ridgefield, and Quaker Valley, as each team took turns leading and keeping it close. The battle grew to five teams by the third leg, as Central Bucks East and Episcopal Academy joined the mix. The tight pack led Ridgefield to a small stumble, but no athletes fell as a result. Quaker Valley held the lead by only 5 meters going into the final exchange. The five teams regroup during the first lap, staying close together through the end of the second lap. CBA made their move from third into the lead on the back stretch of the third lap, with Episcopal Academy and Ridgefield being the only ones to respond and try to stay with CBA through the bell. CBA’s Joe Barrett kept pressing the pace, powering away from the field to form a secure enough gap that he began to encourage the crowd in the final 50 meters to cheer and ultimately celebrate as he broke the finishing tape in a time of 9:59.17. Ridgefield held off Episcopal Academy to finish runner-up. Wind: 0
