The race was pack running for the first 1,800m of racing. Just after the 1800m split, Dom Ellis (St. Xavier, OH), Trent Daniels (Gainesville, VA), William Fadden (Thomas Jefferson, VA), and Jonah Montagnese (Quaker Valley, PA) broke away from the field. Ryan Sykes (Horace Greeley, NY) caught the group at 2200m. This pack of five stayed together through the ringing of the bell lap. Trent Daniels is the first runner to make a move as he began to kick with 200m to go. He powered through the final curve and straightaway, winning the race by almost 10m over Jonah Montagnese.
