1200-400-800-1600. Providence was the top seed going into the 2025 event. They were runners up in 2024, bringing back three of the four racers from that race, Shannon Flockhart, Jillian Fenerty, and Kimberley May. The race pace was quick from the gun, with the field on meet record pace after the completion of the 400m leg as Penn State and Clemson battled for the lead. Providence, followed by Virginia and Georgetown, closed the gap on Clemson and Penn State during the 800m leg. Going into the final 1600m, it was a 5 team battle for the lead: Providence, Clemson, Penn State, Virginia, and Georgetown. These five teams raced single-file along the rail, Clemson’s Judy Kosgei taking early lead duties for the first two laps. Providence's Kimberley May took the lead with 2 laps remaining. Georgetown, Clemson, and Virginia held on as the pace quickened while Penn State fell back. With 300m to go, Providence’s May began her kick, initially opening up on the field. Virginia's Margot Appleton was the only one who could respond, moving from fourth and closing the gap on Providence on the final curve. Coming into the final straightaway, Virginia moved to the outside, passed Providence with 25 meters remaining in the race, holding on to win the Relay Wheel. The winning time of 10:42.16 is third fastest in meet history. This was Virginia's first win in this event since 1982.
