200-200-400-800. Penn State avoided near disaster at the first exchange where their runners came to a near complete stop while exchanging the baton. Fortunately for them, they stayed within the exchange zone and were able to regain their speed. At the break post after the second exchange, Penn State was the early leader, followed closely by Clemson and Texas A&M. Penn State built a small 5 meter lead over Clemson and Texas A&M going into the final exchange, but the gap was closed up by the bell lap and it was a battle across five teams: Penn State, Clemson, Texas A&M, Georgetown, and Wisconsin. Coming off the final curve, Wisconsin, Georgetown and Penn State were running three wide. Georgetown found their final gear and powered ahead of them, winning in a new school record time 3:16.20, their fifth Relays Wheel in this event (first since 2019).
